MEXICO! The following are Pictures from a Dual-Sport Tour operated by Motodiscovery in Mexico. We rode for 8 days from El Paso, Texas to Batopilas, Chihuahua, at the bottom of Copper Canyon.
I highly recomend this ride for anyone who loves riding dual-sport motorcycles, and has an interest in Latin America!
Check out: MOTODISCOVERY for details!
Now, the pics:
After meeting up in El Paso, we headed south to the Mexican border. Here we are, importing our bikes, and getting our first tast of Mexico.
We kept together as we passed through the small towns of northern Chihuahua.
Sean, our fearless guide, was great. Not only fluent in Spanish and an outstanding rider, he was also flawless on the road, solving all the problems that came up south of the border.
Here the group stopped to have breakfast at a Hacienda said to be frequented by Pancho Villa himself!
The hotels we stayed at were clean, secure, and the staffs were very friendly. Brian (back to the camera) is going over his support vehicle. It was literally a mobile toolbox, including pressured air for our tires, and capable of loading a motorcycle.
Here is Bill T. with a dramatic scene of high altitude desert spread out behind him.
Alan, enjoying the views around Madera.
Carl is taking a rest after a long day of backroad riding in Mexico.
Lunch! The Motodiscovery crew knew all the best places to eat and ride!
Here is Dick and Bill W. , getting ready for the ride towards the Copper Canyon.
The group enjoys a drink and a laugh around the fire at one of our hotels.
Bill T. , on his BMW 1150 GS Adventure.
We stopped near the rim of Copper Canyon to give some pencils to the local children.
Pine forests and spring blossoms at the rim of the canyon.
Peering down to the bottom of Copper Canyon....we would be losing over 5,000 feet in the next hour of riding.
The group looks down into the canyon.
The road was twisty and the views scenic. Only one warning from the guides: either ride or look at the scenery....not both at the same time!! No guard rails in the country!
At the bottom of the canyon, the road followed the river for over an hour. Simply spectacular riding!
At the bottom of Copper Canyon, we arrived at the small tranquil town of Batopilas.
Here the group enjoys a relaxing lunch and conversation about the days adventures.
The Copper Canyon in Mexico is spectacular. If you are interested in an invigorating motorcycle adventure, I highly recommend that you contact Skip Mascorro at Motodiscovery.
