Ride the best of Alaska by motorcycle! See the tallest peaks on the continent, visit quaint sea-side towns and historical gold rush towns. This 10-day itinerary features 80% paved roads and 20% dirt roads. Explore the Kenai Peninsula, ride across the scenic Denali Highway, travel by ferry across majestic Prince William Sound, and ride past North America's tallest peak, Mt. McKinley.

Tour Features:

The Kenai Peninsula, Exit Glacier, Prince William Sound, Valdez, Worthington Glacier, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, The Denali Highway, Denali National Park, Mt. McKinley, Talkeetna, Hatcher Pass, Matanuska Glacier.

Tour Itinerary:

The tour starts and ends in Anchorage Alaska. It features up to 1,600 total miles. Of that, up to 300 miles of that being dirt surface.

Day One: Saturday, July 26th: Arrival in Anchorage.
Hotel Check-in and motorcycle orientation. Welcome dinner at one of Alaska’s premier restaurants. Stay in Anchorage.

Day Two: Sunday, July 27th: Anchorage to Homer. 233miles paved. Ride to the most southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. Enjoy ocean views with 10,000ft. volcanoes in the background. Stay at the end of the Homer spit and witness spectacular views of mountains and glaciers.

Day Three: Monday, July 28th: Homer to Seward. 173 miles paved. Explore the East End Road out of Homer. Ride to Seward on the Seward Highway, one of North America’s most scenic highways. Ride twisties through mountains passes, past pristine lakes and arrive at the ocean with mountain fjords erupting out of the ocean to over 5,000 feet!

Day Four: Tuesday, July 29th: Seward to Girdwood via Hope. 141 miles paved. Check out Exit Glacier. Walk up and touch a Glacier! Ride to Hope: a sleepy little town with gold rush history. Stay in Girdwood, Alaska, home to the largest ski area in Alaska.

Day Five: Wednesday, July 30th: Girdwood to Valdez. 30 miles paved. Ride through the longest tunnel in North America (2.5 miles) to the small sea port of Whittier. Load the bikes on the ferry and cross beautiful Prince William Sound to Valdez. The ferry passage takes 6 hours. Prince William Sound is an area full of mountains, virgin forests, and glaciers. It is also rich with many kinds of marine life including whales and sea lions. Enjoy the day, watching this all pass by.

Day Six: Thursday, July 31st: Valdez to Copper Center. 115 miles
Since it is a relatively short day, riders will have a chance to explore Valdez, fish, or take a half-day glacier cruise. We will ride through Thompson Pass this day: one of the best rides on the planet! We will be stopping by Worthington Glacier, which spills out from the mountains almost to the highway! We will also have a chance to ride to the Copper River, and meet locals who are running fish wheels on the river. Stay in Copper Center.

Day Seven: Friday, August 1st: Free Day, Copper Center.
Choices of Rides:
-Ride to the towns of Kennicott and McCarthy in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park: 200 miles (140 miles dirt)
-Ride the Nabesna Road into the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park: 250 miles (80 miles dirt)
-Ride the Glenn Highway (one of the top ten scenic rides in North America) to the Matanuska Glacier and back: (200 miles paved.)
Stay in Copper Center.

Day Eight: Saturday, August 2nd: Copper Center to Denali Highway. Up to 200 miles (60 miles dirt)
Ride to the Alaska Range and through Isabel Pass and Summit Lake Area. Ride past glaciers, wild rivers, and the tallest mountains in North America. Ride The Denali Highway: an epic dirt highway that parallels the Alaska Range through pristine wilderness. Stay out on the Denali Highway.

Day Nine: Sunday, August 3rd: Denali Highway to Talkeetna.
Up to 220 miles paved.
Ride along the Alaska Range on the Denali Highway. Ride into world famous Denali National Park. View Mt. McKinley, North America’s tallest mountain! For those who want, and if weather permits, take a flight-see of Mt. McKinley in Talkeetna in the afternoon. This is an experience of a lifetime!! Stay in Talkeetna.

Day Ten: Monday, August 4th: Talkeetna to Anchorage. Up to 200 miles (40 miles paved)
If weather permits, some riders may want to take advantage, and book a flight-see of Mt. McKinley this morning. Ride through breathtaking Hatchers Pass. This dirt road winds through the mountains to the town of Palmer. Ride some of the best twisties in the state on the Glenn Highway to the Matanuska Glacier. Return to Anchorage. Welcome Dinner at one of Alaska’s premier restaurants this evening. Stay in Anchorage.

Day Eleven: Tuesday, August 5th: Fly home.
Congratulate yourself: you have seen the best of Alaska, and have experienced more of Alaska than most Alaskans!


Notes:
Accommodations range from modern to rustic. Modern means your own bathroom and good services. Rustic means that there are shared bathrooms. All of the accommodations are modern except for one night.

The balance of the tour is required 60 days prior to booking.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation and full refund less a $100 administrative fee is possible until 60 days from tour start date. After that the deposit will be held, but can be transferred to a third party, or used as credit on future Alaska Rider Tours adventures.
Cancellation within 30 days: 50% of the tour balance is forfeited, unless we can fill the vacancy.

-11 Nights Accommodations.
-Kawasaki KLR 650 Rental - upgrades available!
-2 Staff: One Guide on a Motorcycle, one driving a support vehicle. The guide on motorcycle is equipped with a satellite phone, tool kit, and first aid kit. All staff is first aid certified.
-Support van: 15-Passenger van hauls luggage and pulls a trailer carrying an extra motorcycle. Plenty of seating for non-riders!
-3-hour ferry passage across Prince William Sound, from Whittier to Valdez. Vistas of tide water glaciers and marine animals.
-Whittier Tunnel fee
-5-star Welcome and Farewell dinners at Alaska’s best restaurants.
